Launching Phase 2 Gowrie Farm

Category news

In 2008, Gowrie Farm was opened, offering the opportunity for people to live in a secure estate on a working farm. The first phase comprised 125 residential even, open spaces, a working farm, and a 12-hole golf course. The golf course has developed a wonderful reputation, being the first short course in South Africa to be ranked by Golf Digest SA in the top 100 courses of South Africa (47 to 50 over the last 10 years). It was also judged as one of the top 20 most fun courses to play in South Africa.

Golf Digest USA, together with Golf Monthly of the UK, rated Gowrie Farm as the 4th best short course in the world outside of the USA.

Approval for the second phase of Gowrie Farm was obtained in March this year. This entitles the developers to add another 29 properties to the estate and to extend the golf course to an 18-hole course by adding a further 7 holes. The extension of the golf course will be designed again by Guy Smith. As with the first 12 holes, Guy will follow the principles using Royal Dornoch of Scotland and Merion as his reference point.
